I sit on the sidelines and watch as the people I love fight this horrible disease… I sit on the sidelines and cheer them on with each step they take, each morning they get up and fight another day, each small victory, every hurdle they jump. I celebrate with them, and offer what little comfort I can in platitudes and simple hugs and a very black sense of humor. Cancer sucks. It’s cruel and uncaring and thoughtless and relentless but it’s not unbeatable. My sweet friend, you will beat this, you will survive and we will look back one day with different eyes and see some meaning to it all. In the meantime, know you are not alone, you are surrounded by so many who love you and wish you nothing but strength.
